MCAT:
ExamKrackers by Jonathan Orsay (this is for the self-studiers. For those that can afford a course, I recommend Kaplan).
First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 (2013) by Tao Le, Vikas Bhushan, and Jeffrey Hoffman. This is a MUST READ for any Step 1 takers. Do not move on to the next book until you have MEMORIZED everything in this book! For practice questions, I recommend Kaplan Q-bank.
USMLE STEP 2CK:
Step Up to USMLE Step 2 by Van Kleunen
For practice questions, I recommend USMLE World
USMLE STEP 2CS:
First Aid for Step 2CS by Tao Le, Vikas Bhushan, and Mae Sheikh-Ali
USMLE STEP 3:
Boards and Wards by Carlos Ayala and Brad Spellberg
Most people don't care enough about this exam to sign up for a question back.

Superb information about all courses!
ReplyDeleteUSMLE diagnostic exams
Princeton review for MCAT. Questions are harder than the actual test=helps me lots, and love the books!
ReplyDeleteA good list. But more and more students going to online videos like Pathoma. Check out my new resource www.boardsbeyond.com.
ReplyDeleteI agree
Deletebetter Step 1 recommendations- DO NOT try to memorize everything in First Aid before you do anything else. terrible advice. do question banks the whole year and then do the same one again during the 2 or 3 months before the test date.
ReplyDeleteFA 2014 way better than 2013
Pathoma is amazing-use it through 2nd year
UWORLD QBank >>>>> Kaplan *do this at least once
Goljan audio lectures -amazing but has some out of date info
Rapid review goljan-good reference but don't try reading it
Lange Biochem/genetics and Pharm flash cards- can pull out the ones on stuff not in first aid or in qbank (both sets have a little extra)
Lippencott microbio flash cards- good to read through, a little too dense to use as actual flash cards
Source-I just took step 1 in April '14 and got a 254
